10 Things You Could Do to Improve Your Mental Health.

This year has been tough on all of us, so here are some things you can do to improve mental health.

1. Go get some sun!
You should try to go outside for at least 10 minutes.  You can also go for a jog to get your mind off of things for a while, make sure you take water!  The weather is warming up so you could go to the pool too or get a tan. You could also go to the park.
2. Eat well
You should try to eat well. You could eat carrots, apples, tomatoes, or berries. You could try to make healthy recipes of foods you like. And if you don’t like healthy foods, try to eat fruits. There are strawberries, blueberries, oranges, cherries, and watermelon.
3. Write down what you are grateful for.
This one is pretty self-explanatory. Write down what you are grateful for on a piece of paper. You could put it somewhere where you’ll see it every day so you are reminded of what’s good in your life. You could even decorate the paper with colored pens/pencils, glitter glue, or stickers.
4. Take a break
You should take a break, even when things get a little too tough. You should take this time to reconvene and think about why is this too hard. It should take about 5 minutes. Don’t try to take advantage of this to be lazy though. Try to take a break for your benefit.
5. Try to get more sleep
I know a lot of people like to go to bed at, like 4 am, whether it’s because they can’t sleep or they stay up watching tv or their phones. But try to go to bed earlier. Like, if you usually go to bed at 4 try to go to bed at 11. Or if you usually go to bed at 2 try to go to bed at 10. And if it’s because you can’t sleep, try to take melatonin. They come in gummy or pill form. You could get them at, like Wal-greens.
6. Listen to music
You should listen to songs that make you feel good. Listen to more upbeat songs to get you in a good mood. Or you could create a playlist of your favorite songs to play. You could also create a playlist for when you work too.
7. Talk to someone about your problems
There are many resources to talk to someone if you want, like Teen Life Line: 602-248-8336, where you can call or text if you need someone to talk to. You could also talk to family members. But if you don’t like talking to people you could also write down all your problems and feelings. Don’t keep these things bottled up.
8. Try fun crafts
You should try to do fun crafts! You could do crafts like making slime, wire-wrapped rings, ceramics/clay, or having a painting competition with family/friends. I think you should look up how to make slime and wire-wrapped rings so you have a better explanation of what to do. You could get the ceramic and painting stuff from craft stores like Micheals or Joannes.
9. Do something you enjoy
You should do something you like. It doesn’t have to be a hobby or even something you’ve done before. You could try something new. You could do baking, painting, cooking, gardening, or even coloring. Do something you enjoy to take your mind off of things for a while.
10. Treat yourself
Treat yourself however you like. You can go get your nails done or go get a haircut. You could also treat yourself by doing something you’ve been wanting to do, like cleaning your room. Or you could go and have a picnic, and bring some friends too. You could also take a nice, relaxing bath.
